Why Dyslexic Einstein?
Specialized reading and spelling tutoring is offered to K-12 students and adults who have been diagnosed with dyslexia or there is evidence to suggest it may be present. The Barton Reading & Spelling System is the core to our individualized approach to tutoring your child. This reading system was influenced through the Orton-Gillingham Multisensory Method which was developed in the early 1930's by Anna Gillingham. Dr. Samuel Orton developed a whole new way of teaching the phonemic structure of our written language to people with dyslexia, using a multi-sensory approach, as dyslexic people learn best by involving all of their senses: visual, auditory, tactile, and kinesthetic.
The Barton Reading & Spelling System was designed as intensive intervention for students who struggle to easily and accurately decode words when reading (despite being taught phonics), who are slow and inaccurate readers (are missing the oral reading fluency benchmarks), and who have always struggled with spelling – especially when writing sentences, stories, and compositions. Independent scientific research exists to prove the effectiveness of this system. It also supports common core standards and meets the no child left behind (NCLB) requirements.
